Beyond the venues covid safety protocols for our in-person sessions, we are instituting additional protocols to ensure that we are all able to attend as safely as possible, including those with medical vulnerabilities. Therefore, we are asking that all participants:

  • Wear masks throughout the in-person sessions. Please note, you will be seated at tables with your program teams when possible. Additionally, the location is large enough to practice social distancing from other teams.
  • Complete covid test prior to attending.

We’re thrilled that you are joining us for this amazing ADEI Learning Series for 2022-2023! Check out these 5 things you need to know to make the most out of your experience!

The Technology

  •  Zoom. We’ll be using Zoom, so make sure you have an internet-connected computer or tablet to participate. While it’s possible to use their web-interface, it’s best to download the latest version of Zoom to your device.
  • Connection. You can use computer audio (requiring a working microphone and speakers) or your phone (to dial in to a free line). Additionally, we recommend earbuds (wired or wireless) with microphone capabilities, to help minimize background noise for you and other participants.

The Experience

  • Learning & Engagement. Join us as we work through the phases of CONNECT – DISCONNECT – RECONNECT and co-create a community of learning and action to combat racial inequities in adult education! In our time together, you’ll experience a combination of facilitator instruction and storytelling, interactive activities, breakouts, individual reflection, team practice and more! Whether you are at the beginning of your anti-racist journey or deeply embedded in Black excellence and joy, we welcome you and your lived personal and professional experiences. We can’t wait for you to join us as we use Connection, Curiosity, Compassion, and Courage to create brave spaces together!
  • Resources. We’ll be making the most of our precious time together.  To ensure learning turns to action and application to real-world scenarios we ask that you interact with the following resources:
  1. Pre-Work. Prior to each session, please complete the pre-work that introduces you to hkey concepts and resources and helps you deeply engage with other participants and new material. It should take no more than 30 minutes.  Website. We are providing participants with a personalized entrance to the ADEI Website so that you can access resources prior to, during, and after the ADEI Learning Series and sessions.  This is a password-protected site. Follow the login instructions that were provided in the Action Steps at the beginning of this email.
  2. Participant Guide. A guide with linked resources, and important discussion and reflection prompts, will be used at each session. You are asked to access the guide on the ACLS ADEI Website one week prior to each session. Be sure to download or print it out just make sure you have it in front of you when you attend to jot down those important notes and meaningful reflections!
  3. Bridge to Practice. At the end of each session, you will be given instructions on how to apply the learning in the context of your adult education setting.  We highly encourage you to interact and plan your practices with your team. You will be asked to reflect on the planning and application of your practices at the beginning of every session.

Focus. You’ll get the most out of this training if you try to “unplug” from your other work during this time. Mark it on your calendar, put up an out-of-office message, turn off your email notifications, and silence your phone. We believe that learning is best when done in community so expect very interactive sessions.  Additionally, there will be dedicated time for breaks during sessions.

If the aforementioned information excludes you from participating for any reason, you may email us to either (a) ❌cancel your registration or (b) request to be added to the 2023-2024 learning series WAITLIST.  We ask that you make that request within 2 days of receiving this email.

Your facilitators and content creators represent a wide range of personal identities and professional experiences that add authenticity to the ADEI Learning Series.  We are committed to modeling vulnerability and openly processing big emotions together that accompany work in antiracism.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our community where we are all expected to enter with open heads, hearts, and hands.

If you require further information or support regarding this registration, please send an email to adeitraining@updconsulting.com and someone will respond shortly.
